Hands-on help with the activities of daily living
Personal care is non-medical assistance with the most intimate daily tasks: bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, skin care, and incontinence management. For many families across Georgia, personal care is the first service they reach for when a parent, spouse, or loved one can no longer safely manage these tasks alone.
Joy Bridge Care is licensed by the Georgia Department of Community Health as a Private Home Care Provider (PHCP). Every personal care caregiver must clear a GCHEXS background check, complete TB screening, and finish 40 hours of pre-service training before entering a client’s home.

What we do not provide
Joy Bridge Care is a non-medical home care provider. Our caregivers do not perform skilled nursing tasks under any circumstances. This is not a limitation — it is a legal and safety boundary that protects your loved one.
- No skilled nursing care or nursing assessments
- No medication administration, handling, or dosage changes
- No wound care, catheter care, or ostomy management
- No injections or IV therapy
- No physical, occupational, or speech therapy
If your loved one needs skilled nursing or therapy services, please consult a licensed home health agency. We are happy to help coordinate.
Care that preserves dignity and independence
When a parent can no longer bathe safely on their own, or when managing incontinence becomes exhausting for a spouse, the emotional weight on the family is as real as the physical challenge. Our caregivers are trained to approach personal care with patience and discretion — never rushing, always preserving as much independence as the client is capable of.
Before any caregiver is assigned to a client requiring incontinence management or dementia-related personal care, they must complete and demonstrate the relevant competency checklist. We match caregivers by personality as well as skill, because the relationship matters as much as the task.
Personal care questions answered
Is personal care considered skilled nursing care?
No. Personal care — bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting — is non-medical. Joy Bridge Care is licensed as a Private Home Care Provider by the Georgia Department of Community Health. We do not provide skilled nursing, medication administration, wound care, or any clinical services that require a nursing or therapy license.
What if my loved one needs help with incontinence?
Incontinence care is part of our personal care service. Our caregivers are trained in safe, dignified assistance, and any caregiver assigned to a client with complex incontinence or dementia-related care needs must complete and demonstrate the relevant competency checklist before starting.
